Future Jobs Blog: Vision Statement Vision

Most of the jobs of the 21st century do no even yet have a name.

Since most future jobs have yet to be created, it is doubly important to get it right while still in the vision department. Once it hits the ground, it will be subject to all the laws and vicissitudes of the physical world. Why, for example, create a job that entails adding to the traffic or pollution problems? We already have too much traffic and pollution, thank you very much. So most jobs of the future will be done...right where you are.

So, when creating these new jobs, we may want to focus on work that can be done from home. But not all jobs will be done at or from home. And this brings up a second category of job, and that is what I call "Doing what needs to be done.". Does the park need to have glass picked from the sandbox? Does the air, water and land need the pollutants removed? Do sick people need attending? Of course these jobs will only grow in number...and hopefully the lanes will be clearer for emergency vehicle use. And of these jobs, I'd like to focus on those that will need adjustments in number, both up and down, as well as those jobs that have yet to be invented.

These are but two of the types of jobs that will exist in the future. We will go into greater depth as we explore these opportunities and possibilities. Please join in the discussion.
